When Chris and Shannon Svensrud went crib mattress shopping for their first babies in 2008, they knew they wanted something made with organic materials, that would be extremely safe. Knowing SIDS was a danger to their little ones, the husband and wife were sure they’d find a huge range of breathable and organic mattresses to choose from – but they were wrong. The mattresses they found provided little airflow and, if they were organic, tended to be made from cotton, which does not wick away moisture. Knowing they could do better, the Svensruds set out to create a crib mattress that they could trust for their own children: something safe, organic, healthy and breathable. Knowing they wouldn’t want to spend again when their babies became toddlers, the Svensruds even created a unique dual-sided design – a firmer side for infants and a softer side for toddlers.
