MAIRIK, meaning “mother” in Armenian, was born out of designer Janet Karapetian recognizing the need to revive 2,000 year old hand-embroidery techniques and adapting them to modern day trends. Influenced by Scandinavian simplicity and excellent quality, combined with the Armenian embroidery culture, the rich needlepoint is distinguished by the detailed craftsmanship and interesting design, endowed with the symbolism of well-being and prosperity. Employing Armenian women and Syrian Armenian refugees skilled in embroidery, Mairik’s aim is to preserve their way of life and teach the next generation this ancient and beautiful craft. Committed to supporting and educating women and children, a percentage of sales are donated to the Malala Fund to support the education of young women around the globe.
Perfect for transitioning from a summer day to a summer night, the beautifully made Arphi Short Kaftan features delicate geometric embroidery and a relaxed fit. Match with your little one in Mairik’s Arax Short Kaftan!
