Nasiba’s Essential Products for Life with a Second Baby
From a baby carrier made of eco-friendly 100% certified lenzing modal to a non-toxic activity pack that will keep your older child entertained while you’re nursing, The Tot Co-Founder Nasiba Adilova shares her must have essentials for living life with two kids.
Settling into life as a mother of two has proven to be the ultimate balancing act. Couple that with my professional life, and it’s safe to say I’ve had to be extremely efficient with my time management. Not wanting to sacrifice the emotional needs of my toddler, or the special newborn bonding time with my baby son, I found I’ve relied heavily on a few essential products that make home life much more peaceful and fun for everyone.
Chasing after a toddler while pregnant is exhausting. Chasing after a toddler while cradling a newborn is nearly impossible. However, the American-made 100% certified lenzing modal Solly Baby Wrap Carrier makes park dates and shopping trips with my tots totally doable!
The Baby Shusher truly is a miracle worker. Utilizing an ancient but doctor-tested technique, it makes a rhythmic shushing sound that mimics in utero noises and soothes your little one.
Now that I have two kids, a roomy diaper bag is a must! One of my favorite designers, Mary Katrantzou, collaborated with The Tot to create a limited edition diaper bag with Mary’s signature whimsical, hyper-real prints. This ‘Powdy’ version is made of 100% calf leather and features a statuesque white mare design with a dramatic floral background in tonal blues. I love that once I no longer need a diaper bag, that it will turn into a chic travel tote.
For days when my husband has the kids, he prefers a less ornate diaper bag and opts for the JEM + BEA Leather Diaper Backpack which keep him organized and prepared for every adventure. The Backpack features a hidden thermo-insulated pocket, 4 interior pockets, including a secure zip compartment for valuables, an oval-shaped luxury padded change mat and water repellent & wipe clean lining.
5. Breastfeeding Activity Box
Feeding an infant when your toddler wants your full attention is not an easy task. The best tip I received was to create a Breastfeeding Activity Box for my toddler to play with during my baby’s feeding times. Some of the favorite items are:
- Wee Can Too Veggie Crayons
- OMY Magic Markers
- Eco Kids Eco Art Pad
- We Can Too Veggie Sculpting Dough
- A selection of books from the Tiny Bee Gift Co
The Bloom Coco Go 3-in-1 Organic Bouncer features a plush, organic baby-facing seat pad, a 5-point safety harness with one-push smart buckle and 3 easy-to-activate recline positions that gives me freedom around the house or when I’m traveling with my family.
I LOVE this stroller. It is sleek, functional, comfortable and something I cannot live without. My sons and I love getting out and about and the Joolz Geo² Duo lets my toddler sit up high in the upper seat so he can see, while my baby can lie flat comfortably and safely in the lower bassinet.
It’s official – we’re living in the future. The Arc Instatemp Thermometer uses a safe infrared digital sensor technology that takes your tot’s temperature without any contact. I always pack one when we’re traveling.
After trial and error, I found that my baby loves the Comotomo Natural Feel Baby Bottle. It has an ultra wide-neck design, dual anti-colic vents to prevent unwanted air-intake to help reduce instances of colic and a unique soft and skin-like bottle material that offers a better grip and a soothing, calming feel. It’s BPA free and the nipple is made from safe and hygienic, 100% medical-grade silicone.
As someone who pumps and stores my breastmilk, I simply could not do it without my Medela Pump. It’s the best on the market. When my new baby came along I just bought a few new accessories such as breastshields and membrane caps.
Pacifiers can be full of toxins like BPA, Parabens, Phthalates and PVC, which is why ALWAYS choose natural rubber pacis like those by Eco-piggy. Made from pure rubber from the Hevea brasiliensi tree, they’re softer than silicone and extremely hygienic because they are molded in one piece. In an effort to be extra hypoallergenic, the protein that can provoke a very rare latex allergy is eliminated during production.
I received an EllieFunDay Organic Lovie Burp Cloth before my baby was born and used it non-stop in those early months of feeding. The soft 100% GOTS certified organic cotton cloth is hand stitched in India, absorbent and machine washable!
Little Unicorn is famous for their swaddles and bedding designed with adorable and unique prints + high quality material, which is why both of my kids love their 100 percent cotton muslin crib sheet and bedding sets. I love that they’re machine washable, beyond soft and extremely breathable.
When you’re a baby, nothing is better than an ultra cozy romper to lounge around in. The super soft Woombie Organic Romper is made from 100% organic cotton and perfect for day or night wear. The snaps down the front and legs make getting dressed and changing diapers a breeze.
I use Milkbarn’s swaddles for everything! Because they’re a good size (47” x 47”) they’re also great for snuggling, as play mats, for nursing, and even for use as a scarf. Made with 100% certified organic cotton, the Milkbarn swaddles feature adorable gender-neutral prints and are packaged in an eco-friendly gift box.
The DockATot Deluxe+ dock is the ultimate docking station for babies aged 0-8 months old. My baby loves to rest, lounge, play, cuddle, do tummy time and get his diaper changed in his. With a unique, non-heat harboring mattress that allows baby to breathe openly and unobstructed, the DockATot is a place where you can lay your baby down to sleep that’s free from harmful chemicals and substances – so you can rest easy yourself. Once he outgrows the Deluxe, he will move into his brother’s Grand Dock.
