Shopping for someone else’s baby is one of life’s chief joys – seriously! There’s something so heart-warming about shopping for a little one about to come into the world – it’s a way of saying, “I love you already, and I’m excited to be a part of your life.”
Having said that, choosing a gift can be difficult. Should you go for an heirloom item that will be kept forever, or choose something more practical, that the new parents will use while their tot is small? - Always ask if there’s a registry, or an item that the mom really wants.
- Remember safety. Most parents these days are hyper-aware of the safety (or lack thereof) of certain chemicals and dyes used in baby products. As much as possible, ensure your gift is organic, non-toxic and free of artificial dyes, BPAs and phthalates.
- If in doubt, make a hamper of things you know the new mama will definitely need. (Think diapers, wipes, creams and lotions!)
