The Tot 10: Travel toys and activities
Traveling with kids? Don’t leave home without some winning travel toys. You’ll pat yourself on the back when your little ones are so engrossed that they forget to ask, “Are we there yet?”
Searching for toys and activities to keep your kids occupied on vacation? I’m your woman. Not only do I have three preschool-aged children, but we live a 12-hour car ride away from my husband’s family and a 24-hour plane expedition away from mine. You could say that travel toys are my thing.
There are a few criteria I look for in travel toys and activities: they have to be compact, light, portable, self-contained (magnetic is a bonus!), durable and non-toxic. They also have to actually entertain my kids. From a baby sensory mat to an all-in-one activity bag that will entertain your tot for hours, there’s definitely something in this list for everyone.

Best Travel Toys & Activities For Kids
A new take on a classic game, the Sunnylife 4 In A Row game is made of transparent lucite acrylic, making it not only look super cool, but also waterproof. Why I extra love it: the frame doubles as its own storage case.
Kids go bananas for Rock Blocks because they’re able to build arches, towers, towns and more thanks to their unique shape. Packaged in a drawstring cotton bag, they’re easy to travel with and are great at pretty much any age.
Memory games are fantastic for cognitive development and building confidence. This Modern Blocks set is especially awesome because it’s made white birch wood and non-toxic paint. It’s a beach house must-have for sure!
Now this is what I’m talking about! For lovers of paper dolls, the Petit Collage Magnetic Dress Up box is a total essential.
You can’t go wrong with a coloring book. Especially when it’s one with Petit Collage illustrations. Suitable for use with crayons, pencils, paints or markers – it’s a must have for any trip (or rainy day.)
Another classic, we love the Petit Collage Doodle + Draw Elephant because it’s made from child-safe wood and is 100% mess-free!
Consisting of everything a little explorer needs to learn, play and craft, the Olli Ella Forest Play’N Pack lets kids go on their own adventure – even when confined in a plane, train or car!
Easy for little hands to hold and also fun to stack, Playon Crayon’s non-toxic and flat-bottomed crayons won’t roll off the airplane tray or under the seat of your car.
If you’re traveling with a baby, then I highly suggest the Wee Gallery Woodland Activity Pad. Easy to roll up and throw in your diaper bag, your tot will love playing with it during tummy time on long layovers.
Particularly great if you’re looking for something screen-free, the Lunii My Fabulous Storyteller lets your kid help create the story by choosing the hero, setting, second character and object of their tale!
